Mr. Olugbenga Onigbogi is the Chairman and CEO of Horizon Construction Company
Limited.
A distinguished economist, he earned his degree from the University of Ife (now
Obafemi Awolowo University),
Ile-Ife, in 1979. His career began at Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co. (Chartered
Accountants),
where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 and became a Fellow of the
Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 1992.
Mr. Onigbogi's career in finance gained prominence at NAL Merchant Bank Limited,
where he held key management roles in Credit and Marketing, Treasury, and Capital
Markets.
In 1991, he transitioned to entrepreneurship, founding Horizon Building Society
Limited (Mortgage Bankers)
and expanding his portfolio with Horizon Properties Limited and Magnificat Shipping
Lines Ltd.
His expertise also led to a non-executive directorship at Wema Bank Plc from 1995 to
1998.
A seasoned public servant, Mr. Onigbogi was elected to the House of
Representatives in 1999,
where he served until 2003, and again from 2007 to 2011. During his legislative
tenure,
he was the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Solid Minerals and a member of
committees on Appropriation,
Capital Markets, and Poverty Alleviation. His leadership extends to the energy
sector,
where he is a director of Orashi Oil and Gas Limited, part of Seven Energy Ltd,
a strategic joint venture with
British Gas Exploration & Production Nig. Ltd and the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) on OPL 332.
